Personal Law – Private Client Legal Services
Most law practices of our size and age were founded on Private Client work, providing traditional conveyancing, executry and Wills services for succeeding generations of families. Although commercial law has grown to become a dominant part of the Firm, we have not neglected our Private Client service, which has the same modern, high quality standards as our commercial services.
Despite the post-2008 recession, in an ageing population many have increasing personal wealth and are facing problems with Inheritance Tax planning, Guardianships and care-home costs.
Private Client law and procedures becomes ever-more complicated, and clients require more sophisticated solutions. Sometimes Wills and Powers of Attorney are sufficient, but when appropriate we may recommend combinations including trusts, financial services, and solutions available in lifetime.
Our Executry and Trust team is headed by Pauline Milligan, a very experienced and well-qualified solicitor who specialises in Private Client work. She handles most of the planning work and complex estates where there are major tax issues. Most executries and routine tax administration are handled by Susan Johnson, who has over 25 years experience in this field.
Our residential conveyancing service is headed by Kenneth Miller, supported by experienced, qualified conveyancing paralegals.
Our other solicitors, although primarily concentrating on their commercial and litigation specialisms, have considerable experience in Private Client matters, and are available to advise private clients when required.
